2016 Holy Grail Seppeltsfield Road Barossa Shiraz Two Hands

The 2016 Shiraz Holy Grail Single Vineyard comes from the Barossa Valley and was brought up in roughly 20% new French oak puncheons and Hogsheads. This single vineyard release was first made in 2015. The 2016 has a ripe, sexy bouquet of plum and cassis fruit intermixed with terrific notes of mulled spices, chocolate, dried violets, and licorice. Ripe, layered, and concentrated on the palate, with moderate acidity and sweet tannin, it's a hedonist, classic Barossa Shiraz to drink over the coming decade.

A new bottling from Two Hands, the 2016 Shiraz Holy Grail Seppeltsfield Road Seppeltsfield comes from a historic vineyard purchased from Jayson Woodbridge, who used it for his Hundred Acre project. Blueberry and blackberry fruit mingle on the nose and palate in this rich, full-bodied beauty. It's creamy and supple on the palate, with a long, vanilla-tinged finish 18 - 2030.

Powerful, with plenty of structure from the tannic backbone, this expressive red delivers notes of date nut bread, kirsch, cigar, dried lavender, dark chocolate and chai tea. The complexity gains momentum on the long, velvety finish. Drink now through 2035.-M.W
