2015 Otra Piel Red Blend Mendoza Gen del Alma

Similar to the white, the red 2015 Otra Piel Tinto has a commercial, accessible and easy-to-understand profile, keeping the Gualtallary profile. It is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Pinot Noir from eight-year-old vines in Gualtallary fermented together in amphorae buried in the vineyard, macerated with skins and stems for some eight months. There is a hint of heat with higher ripeness, which they tell me is the style of the wine. There might also be a phenolic note in this vintage; the palate has a little more volume than 2014, less than 2013. The Otra Piel wines have no intervention whatsoever, they can only intervene in the date they harvest the grapes, as being fermented and aged in the middle of a field there's nothing they can do to it. This is moving in the direction of a Chinon. 3,000 bottles were filled in May 2016.
