2015 Riesling Pfaffenberg Krems/Stein Pichler-Krutzler

Very clear, dense and with pure, darker flavored white stone-fruit aromas along with some herbal and chalky flavors, the 2015 Riesling Pfaffenberg is stimulatingly pure and precise in its white and yellow stone- fruit flavors and balance between ripeness and piquancy. This is an expressive, mineral and attractively fruity Riesling with density, intensity and vibrancy. Well-structured and with a very nice grip in the finish. Excellent aging potential.

The scents and flavors here are predominantly of apple and lime, just as in the corresponding entry-level Riesling Trum, but there is also a delightful tang and piquancy of pineapple core. Firm in feel, palpably extract-rich and tightly concentrated, this bottling delivers abundant chalk and crushed stone, which, when combined with lime peel and apple seed piquancy, make for a slightly austere, albeit admirably juicy and impressively persistent finish. (A T.B.A. got picked out alongside, and this wine certainly seems unencumbered by botrytis.)
