Vougeraie's mytiska monopolmarknad; Le Clos Blanc är en liten ö Chardonnay mitt i ett hav av Pinot Noir. Ett unikt fält med kalkstensjord på bara 2 ha. omgiven av en mur bRougevid den berömda Clos de Vougeot. marken har samma ursprung som Clos de Vougeot och ägdes av cisterciensermunkarna som planterade de 1. vinrankorna här för 9 århundraden sedan. Rougean då planterades marken bara med vita druvor, eftersom munkarna ville göra sitt eget vita altarvin. Idag är marken främst planterat med Chardonnay men traditionellt har en liten andel av Pinot Gris och Pinot Blanc bevarats, vilket bidrar till Le Clos Blanc de Vougeots unika komplexitet. marken är certifierat organiskt och biodynamiskt och allt arbete görs för hand. Druvorna på Le Clos Blanc skördas i flera omgångar beroende på mognadsnivå. De 1. skördade druvorna ger syra och friskhet medan de efterföljande ger mer fett och frukt. Var och en av de tre druvsorterna fermenteras och lagras separat och blandas i slutet. Den gyllene regeln är först och främst att låta terroiren uttryckas i vinet. Endast ett vin produceras: Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot. Vinet har en ren arom av aprikos och vit persika med inslag av nötter. Smaken är rik och fyllig men med frisk syra och en underbar mineralkärna. Super läcker komplexitet och lång krämig eftersmak. Detta är det bästa vita vinet på Côte de Nuits och är ett "måste" för alla som älskar vitt Bourgogne.

Pale lemon and lime, with both a refined bouquet and intensity behind. “The inimitable Clos Blanc” says Sylvie. So much fruit detail here, both the sharper styles such as fresh apple, through a whole range of pears but stopping short of peach or anything tropical. All white fruit, excellent taffeta texture, great length.

Focused, bright and pretty, this is a savory, even saline, wine. There's an attractive leesiness on the nose followed by ample yellow fruits on the generous, juicy palate. Plums, sweet apples and cherries mesh on the long finish. I always find this wine delightful.

Three tries were made through the vineyard to make the 2020 Vougeot 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot this year due to differing ripening levels. Orchard fruit, touches of petrichor on the nose, this is quite Puligny-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, though it just needs a touch of tension and mineralité on the finish. But this is fine overall.

(a monopole of de la Vougeraie). Here too there is a whiff of exotic character to the ripe aromas of pear liqueur, straw and a hint of matchstick. I like the seductive texture of the generously proportioned but very punchy middle weight flavors that display good length on the solidly complex finale. This isn’t especially refined but there is good balance and mid-term development potential.
