2010 Grande Cuvée TBA No. 6 Nouvelle Vague Weingut Kracher 37,5cl

Another utterly magnificent wine, 2010 #6 Grand Cuvée Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague is flat-out great. Savory notes lead to honey, chamomile, apricot jam and earthiness in a wine that shows the explosive, exuberant style of the year. New French oak gives the #6, a Chardonnay/Welschriesling blend, its soft contours, and warm, resonant personality. It is exceedingly rare to find a wine that is so concentrated yet equally delineated and nuanced, but it's all there in the glass.

This Welschriesling and Chardonnay blend shows apricot and quince aromas. There's a fine attack on the palate, which is intense and precise, with high acidity, striking salinity and excellent length.

60% Chardonnay and 40% Welschriesling make up for the bright amber-colored 2010 Grande Cuvée Trockenbeerenauslese No 6 Nouvelle Vague offers a deep and spicy rather than fruity, concentrated and very generous bouquet with chestnut and kumquat flavors. Concentrated, piquant, intense and really noble in its texture, this is a very elegant, firmly structured, long and more tannic TBA (compared to the Zwischen den Seen wines). This wine has a long, complex and aromatic finish. It is still sharp in its piquancy and needs some years to become more elegant and finesse-full. Quite powerful and fiery.

Butter cream notes abound in this big and juicy sweetie, featuring ripe pear, apple and peach flavors, with some candied ginger notes. Viscous and spicy at midpalate, this delivers a long and custardy, yet crisp, finish that goes on and on.
