2017 Vosne-Romanée 1Cru Les Beaux Monts Domaine Perrot-Minot

There is just enough reduction present to blur the nuance on the nose of spicy and floral-inflected dark cherry aromas. More interesting are the once again ultra-sleek, intense and beautifully precise medium weight flavors that are so mineral-driven that they're like rolling small pebbles around in the mouth, all wrapped in a clean, youthfully austere and linear finish. This is presently very tightly wound and will need bottle age to soften the firm tannins and add flesh to the finish. In short, this is classy but in no mood to come out and play. (90-93)/2029+

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a very attractive, expressive bouquet of quite precocious macerated red cherries, kirsch, orange sorbet and hints of crème de cassis, a little showy but irresistible. The silky-smooth palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, more understated than the aromatics, and the finish is very cohesive and charming. Maybe it would benefit from more length, but it feels very natural and refined at the moment.

Inviting from the first sniff, this red is expressive, featuring kirsch, raspberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Velvety and plush, with a vibrant streak of acidity keeping this focused and long. Best from 2021 through 2035.
