Close to Clos de Bèze. Close planted in 1940. 12,000 vines/ha. Dark and peppery on the nose. Dark-suited and elegant. Extreme finesse in the texture here. Light bodied and super-refined, sylph-like and long. Floating elegance on the finish. So fine there's no grain - like layers of paper. (JH) Drink 2024-2030.

nce again there is a lovely coolness and restraint to the quite pure aromas of gently earthy red and dark currant scents. The vibrant and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing and rich mouthfeel though the solidly long and complex finish progressively tightens up as it sits on the palate. This should be approachable young but amply reward mid-term cellaring. 2027+

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes opens in the glass with aromas of plums, red berries and peonies mingled with hints of dark chocolate, warm spices and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, its succulent core of fruit is structured around melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a mineral finish. Pure and charming, this has turned out very well.

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru already has a cohesive, quite intense bouquet with violet petals that infuse the blueberry and black cherry fruit, just a hint of vanilla from the wood that will be assimilated by the time of bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-like freshness. There is plenty of blood orange towards the structured finish that feels precise and mineral- driven. Excellent.
