2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1. Cru Les Folatières Henri Boillot

Though the grapes are purchased, team Henri Boillot pick them on their chosen date. Lime green in colour, with a touch of barrel toast. This is from the upper part of Folatières, so therefore not one of the most powerful examples, but elegant and with length. Really very lively, with some sunnier notes to finish, but in balance.

Produced from purchased grapes—as opposed to must—the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières bursts with aromas of pear, peach, white flowers, toast and honeycomb. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's fleshy and gourmand, with lively acids and a chalky finish.

A whiff of the exotic sits atop the riper aromas of white and yellow peach, dried apricot and passion fruit. There is a lovely texture to the rich and caressing but quite punchy flavors that conclude in a youthfully austere and beautifully persistent finale where a touch of bitter lemon zest slowly emerges.
