2009 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli Altesino

The 2009 Montosoli is a fantastic Brunello and one of the best I have tasted from the vintage. It delivers exotic aromas of wild berries, plum, juniper, orange zest, dried floral and hints of leather. This possesses wonderful balance and finesse along with gorgeous silky tannins with a fantastic inner- sweetness. The finish is long, silky and caressing, leaving behind notes of berries and spices. This is a Montosoli that is approachable upon release, however it also has the ability to show well for a decade or maybe even longer. (Best 2015-2024).

Sourced from a north-facing, five hectare plot planted in 1975 on the famous Montosoli hill, this is a effectively a cru by another name. It's riper and slightly weightier than the regular Altesino 2009, with restrained power, supple tannins and a sweet, savoury finish buoyed by minerality, pomegrantate-like acidity and a hint of reduction that needs time in bottle to dissipate. One of the best wines of the vintage. 2016-24.

This is a unique wine for 2009, with an amazing nose of clementines and ripe fruit. It's full-bodied and very, very velvety with a long, long finish. Classy wine. Best of the vintage.

The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli pays great homage to the aromatic nuances inherent to Sangiovese: pressed rose and violet, berry fruit and warm earth all capped by bright balsam notes that recall eucalyptus, hummus, rosemary oil and root beer. There's a smooth note of polished river stone as well. The wine shows a steady evolution in the glass, revealing more of itself slowly and carefully. Although the palate is not as fleshed out especially when compared to more structured vintages like 2007 and 2004, this edition does an impressive job of prioritizing harmony especially in terms of the balanced acidity. This is not a Montosoli of legends, but it is a very good effort. Drink: 2017-2028.

Varme, modne kirsebær, blommer, creme de cassis og chokolade i næsen krydret med urter som salvie og mynte. I munden er der masser af kirsebær, sveskeblommer, mørk chokolade, cigarkasse og sødmefulde noter fra fadet. Saftig og varm vin med god dybde og kompleksitet. Vi smagte for nylig årgang 2008, hvor vi gav den hele 5 stjerner, 2009 lever fint op til sin store broder, så endnu engang fem fra os.

En duft af roser og blomster. I smagen sorte kirsebær, menthol, violer, lakrids, peber og flint. Meget kompleks duft af skovbund, våd sten og sorte kirsebær. Yderst elegant i stilen og man fornemmer mange lag i vinen.
