It's soothingly round, more savory than sweet, with mineral-infused red berry fruits and rosy inner florals. Long and staining, the 2021 leaves a saturation of primary concentration as fine-grained tannins add a classically dry sensation.

The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo offers beautiful definition in terms of the brightness of its aromas and its layered complexity. You get more phenolic structure and oak rendering that adds depth. It closes with sweet tannins, delivering power and intensity in a limited release of just 3,154 bottles.

From vines planted in 1965, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Del Suolo displays a youthful red color and is seductive, revealing woven, layered notes of fresh leather, preserved cherries, blood orange, lavender, and dried Mediterranean herbs and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it captures a vibrant spine of acidity, well-defined tannins, snappy salinity, and mineral underpinnings. It benefits from some air on opening, and I anticipate it will improve quite a bit over the next 6-12 months. It’s nervous and tense in structure and built to last.
