The 2019 Barolo Mosconi Vigna Ped shows all the depth that is typical of this site. A rush of dark red fruit, smoke, tar, gravel, incense and crushed rose petals builds as the 2019 shows off its remarkable depth and textural intensity. There's real character and pedigree here. Time in the glass releases layers of fruit that build into the huge, substantial finish. What a wine!

Packs a core of cherry and berry fruit shaded by leather, eucalyptus and warm spices. Rich and dense, with youthful reticence. Balanced, with a long finish that flexes the tannins now. Shows great potential, thanks to its ripe fruit, complexity and harmony.

The Conterno Fantino 2019 Barolo Mosconi Vigna Ped is perhaps more floral, with plenty of rose, and fruity, with lots of cherry, compared to the other new releases in this portfolio. This Barolo is very lively and bright thanks to the lifted quality of its primary fruit. The style is a little more immediate, but this wine delivers lots of satisfying Nebbiolo typicity nonetheless. The tannins show an elegant, dusty side.

Attractive dried strawberries and dark cherries with crushed walnuts, dark spices and cocoa. Hints of forest floor, too. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins and mellow texture. Refined, even and silky at the end.

Good full red. Very floral on the nose and in the mouth, with complicating hints of coffeem, cocoa and tar. More approachable than most Barolo Mosconis you’ll drink at other wineries, there is a welcome gentleness and delicacy to this wine.
