(from a .53 ha parcel). A strikingly fresh, cool and highly restrained nose features notes of ripe red currants, floral, earth and hints of wood and the sauvage. There is equally good freshness and intensity to the vibrant and tightly coiled mineral-driven flavors that exhibit outstanding delineation on the taut, persistent and impeccably wellbalanced finale. This is a relatively racy 2015 that will require extended aging before it will fully resolve its supporting tannins to arrive at its apogee. In sum, this is very impressive. Drink 2030+ .
A bit of oak in evidence - a tad clumsy? Very chewy and almost sour on the end. Not graceful - a bit over-extracted? Drink 2027-2040.
The 2015 Latricières- Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the more aromatically reticent wines in the range, opening in the glass with notes of coniferous forest floor, raspberry and currant leaf. On the palate, the wine is supple, silky and expansive, with a deep and sapid core of fruit, bright acids, and fine-grained, chalky tannins which assert themselves on the finish. This will need time, but the raw materials are promising. 2025 - 2060.
Bright medium red. Wilder on the nose than the Echézeaux, with its high-pitched strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant aromas complicated by a rocky quality and deep, smoky earth tones. Then plush, sweet and suave in the mouth, with the whole-bunch energy giving the mid-palate a lacy quality. Finishes with fairly fine-grained tannins and brisk peppery lift. This doesn't show quite the complexity, definition or sheer éclat of the best 2015s at this address, and also seemed to shut down in the glass.
(the yield here was just 15 hectoliters per hectare; vinified entirely with whole clusters): Deep medium red. Sexy, rather wild aromas of raspberry and strawberry complicated and enlivened by pepper, spices, herbs and minerals. A sappy, soil-driven vin de terroir, at once glyceral and light on its feet, with its tangy red berry flavors lifted by salty minerality and a light peppery quality. Really lovely use of stems here! The tannins lightly dust the palate and spread out horizontally on the slowly building finish. Very promising.
