Wild Sauvignon Blanc

Lemongreen, the second palest, but it does not look weak. This wine is about to be released. It is still a little gawky, the oak noticeable, no floral harmony evolved yet awhile. There is a fresh edge, but picking up a glass idly, again you could easily think it chardonnay, on bouquet. Palate immediately changes that, beautifully rich stone fruit, a sweet basil edge, MLF a little more noticeable at this early stage, perhaps because all the fruit gives the impression of being a little riper this year. Aftertaste does not confirm the thought of oak on bouquet, so expect this wine to harmonise wonderfully with another 12 - 18 months in bottle. Cellar 8 - 12 years.

The 2015 Wild Sauvignon features hints of struck flint and green onion on the nose, but those are quickly swept away by aromas of nectarine and grapefruit. This is a ripe, medium to full-bodied style, barrel fermented in used oak to avoid any overt vanilla or cedar flavors, yet round and mouth-filling. It's actually pretty tame for being "wild," and should have broad appeal. 2018 - 2020.

Pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is very elegant and fine, quite tightly bound, with aromatic and green stonefruit notes, along with herbs and florals, with some ripe fruit elements and subtle flinty funkiness. On palate this is fresh and lively with good intensity of ripe stonefruits and a range of herb notes. Very elegant in proportion with fine textures and bright acidity. A youthful wine.

The 2015 Wild Sauvignon has an intense bouquet with gooseberry, Conference pear, smoke and light fish oil aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity. It is not as powerful as the aromatics suggest, though there is a lovely tang of spice lingering on the bell pepper finish. Excellent.

Restrained and poised, this is an outstanding rendition of Greywacke's now famous Wild Sauvignon. The delicately fragrant bouquet shows dried herb, clove, almond and nectarine characters with a subtle lime zest lift. The palate is concentrated and impressively weighted, yet elegant and fine, delivering excellent focus and linear mouthfeel. The wine offers pristine fruit characters with seductive savoury undertones, finishing superbly long and mouth-watering. At its best: 2018 to 2027.

Supple, rich and spicy, with smooth, honeyed overtones and whiffs of lanolin and honeycomb adding complexity to the core of pear and peach flavors. Smooth and succulent on the finish. Drink now. 700 cases imported.-MW .

Roasted nut barrel ferment aromas at first, with a touch of burnt rubber sulfides. The flavour is very much sauvignon, with herbal and nutty flavours, savoury, chalky and rich, full-bodied and long. A powerful wine with some phenolic textural components. Full-bodied, plentiful alcohol, a big worked style.
